A man has been arrested after a green laser was shone into the cockpits of planes passing over Kent.

Kent police confirmed they had arrested a 45-year-old man from Sheppey on suspicion of endangering aircraft.

Police received 4 reports on Saturday night of a green laser pen being shone at planes as they flew in and out of Heathrow.

An image of the powerful green laser as seen from inside the aircraft was shared onto the dedicated Heathrow police officers Twitter page.

They wrote: "More laser strikes on incoming flights tonight. This is extremely dangerous and puts peoples lives at risk. Think about your actions!

"Endangering an aircraft in flight is a very serious offence.“

The man has been bailed, pending further enquiries, until Monday 14 March.
